In the 250 year anniversary since the first known building society, the BSA have set a goal to double the membership of UK building societies to 52 million customers by 2034. Aligning with the Labour Party's commitment to expand the co-operative and mutual economy, creating a significant opportunity for building societies to play an even larger role in the UK financial landscape. This session will look at:

- What will doubling membership mean for the UK mortgage market
- Appropriate regulation of mutuals and a 'mutual first' approach in government policy making
